Minecraft: A new gaming era

By Vetle Wroldsen

About: Minecraft is the game you easily may become addicted to, it's by far the most entertaining sandbox game i ever seen and the co-op of the year.
The idea is simple: Put a man or several players on a deserted island. Give him all the elements, the ability to gather and create. Sit down and watch!

A sandbox game is a type of game that let the players deside what happends next and how to play the game. There is no specific rules or goal. From this players actualy develop new things whitin the game that the creators of the game never tought even were possible.

History: Minecraft is a java-based game created by Markus "Notch" Persson from sweden over about 1,5 years. It's still in Beta but you may pre-purchase and play while the game is developing. It's not expencive at all and never had any public marketing, however to this day Notch earned around
33,000,000 dollars.
Alpha version were given out 2009, Beta 2010 and it will come for Mac and Android 2011. You may play Classic version online on their website, however this just gives you the basics of singleplayer.
If you buy the Beta you may play in your browser or use the client to join or create single or multiplayer worlds.

Gameplay: Everything you see in the game have their own "rules" and use. Dirt will get wet close to water, sand will fall to the bottom of the ocean if dropet at water, fire will burn your wooden house down. Materials will also function diffrent placed on or close to eachother.

From hacking down a tree you may create items like pickaxe, with your pickaxe you could mine for coal. With coal and wood you make torches; and so on.
You will have to farm for food and figure out how to cook to gain health.

But, when the sun goes down monsters will appear so building a small cave or house fast is a good idea. Stay inside mining at night , expand your land outside by day.

The graphics is for first viewers a bit wierd and "blocky". But i couldent have it any other way. Its crucial for a game that want every single spot to interact with eachother. And when you fall in love with the game like me, you do not see these blocks no more.

Also the not often played ingame music, weather effects and real 3D(need glases) will make you melt into the seat half sleeping while watching the sun set. Iv'e seen huge castles in hell, Titanic in the ocean and even the whole planet itself in "lego-style". Minecraft is beautifull!

More: A good idea to learn about this game is reading upon their webside, keep yourself updated on the forum, watch youtube video's and use minecraftwiki. You will not figure out this game by yourself.
I will post pictures from both my singlerplayer and my multiplayer world at a later time in this article. Keep yourself updated!

Area 51

By Vetle Wroldsen
DreamLand(R-4808N)

About 80-100 Miles(100-120km) North of Las Vegas, USA in the Navada desert you will find the most secret place known to exist by general on planet earth. Surrounded by mountains, cameras, signs, motion detecters and security guards with M16 and jeeps you find the US Air Force Military Base "Area 51".
A base you may not find in any official US map.

Untill recently US gverment and US military denied any existance of this base. They admit there were a base close to that area, but they claim this to be a left empty and shut down base. However noone may enter still and you can clearly see activities from the mountains not yet bought and closed by the goverment....
