Facebook Phenomena: Planking

"Planking" is a new phenonoma recently exploding on Facebook. The idea is to "play" a wooden plank somewhere and get the most intresting picture.

The idea is actually quite old. I've seen this late 90's in america and asia but back then you dident have to lie down as a plank but just play dead somewhere intresting.



Australia made a comeback for it 15 years after the orgin though. This time onf Facebook reaching 160,000 members. The international group have 270,000 members and everyone seem to be joining in. Norway have several sub-groups cointaining around 50,000 members and are seen all around the country the last month.

Media and Politicians go out strongly warn people about "planking".



On 13 May 2011, a 20-year-old man from Gladstone in central Queensland was charged for allegedly planking on a police vehicle.[Wikipedia]

On 15 May 2011, Acton Beale, a 20-year-old man, plunged to his death after reportedly "planking" on a seventh-floor balcony in Brisbane, Australia. This is the first known casualty of planking. [Wikipedia]
